Transmission Media

Hello, this is Bndsbon. In this very blog post, I am going to talk about transmission data, it might sound a bit adstract to you, but once you get the point, it will be very easy.

Basically, there is two types of transimission data, one is guided (wired), the other is unguided (wireless).

Wired Transmission Media

Generally, to determine whether a certain type of wire transmission is good or not.  We can evaluate using the following criteria:

  1. Cost 2. Distance 3.Ease to use 4.Relability 5. Security

Wireless Transmission Media

Here are the most common type of wireless transmission media; microwave; satellites; Infrared; RFID; Bluetooth; Free Space Optics.

This is a poster made by Iris, Charles and Steven. 

As we can see from the wired and wireless transmission medias that, the technology is growth in an ever fast speed, more and more communication ways are invented, and being brought to the public for good use. Before this lesson, I thought that all the wireless transmissions uses microwave. This lesson really changed my view on transmission media.
